Somehow, this adaptation takes the poorest aspects of the book and makes them. After audiences flocked to the first Robert Langdon story, the studio greenlit its predecessor, and Angels did well at the box office, as well. And let's face it, the book is barely passable commercial fiction that gets a pass because the puzzle is fun and the travelogue aspect of the story.
In the book sense, Angels came before Da Vinci, but Ron Howard and Sony chose to start with Da Vinci because that novel was a global sensation. Based on Dan Brown’s novel about symbologist Robert Langdon, The Lost Symbol was planned as a movie in the Tom Hanks franchise ( The Da Vinci Code, etc.).
Only time will tell how The Lost Symbol series studded with a new cast will perform and safe to say, it shouldnt. The trilogy, despite being moolah-rakers, garnered immense flak and stirred up massive controversy just like the books did.
These stories have been told out of order before. In the movies, Tom Hanks made the character his own starring in three installments The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009), and Inferno (2016). and has Paul Langdon trying to save the life of his close friend, Peter Solomon, while attempting to unravel the hidden codes of the Freemasons and the effect they had on the founding of our nation. and the question of the Masons was very reminiscent of the theoretical dilemmas of both The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. Anyway, The Lost Symbol takes place in Washington, D.C. That was interesting because we actually worked on for a while to see if there was something, and at the end of the day, Washington, D.C. Luckily, I was able to sit down with Tom Hanks in Florence, Italy to discuss Inferno and his work on this fast-moving franchise, and when it comes to The Lost Symbol, he told me:
